[the book]
A lot happened with urban art, or so called street art, since the forerunner of this book THE ART OF REBELLION - WORLD OF STREET ART (30.000 sold copies!) had been released: Many featured artists have had big shows all around the globe, others tried new and very original ways, and even companies like Burton or VW signed various artists to work for them. The results were all together incredible! There's still a huge process going on, nevertheless - and luckily - the expected and feared trend and therewith exploitation of street art didn't happen at all. THE ART OF REBELLION 2 - WORLD OF URBAN ART ACTIVISM is a visual journey through the world wide development of street art within the last two years and features a lot of new artists with original styles and techniques on large scale photographs. Most of them have been active for several years and have already gained a lot of international respect, such as Miss Van, Faile, Heavyweight, Derrick Hodgson, Kid Acne. Additionally the book features a selection of the best exhibitions and also ´presents collaborations between artists and apparel and fashion brands.
This book will definitely extend the impression people have of street art, as it is much more than just posters and stickers.

[the publisher]

The company was founded by Jörn Stiller and Markus Christl in 1995 as "Graffitiagentur Jörn Stiller". The former individual enterprise dealt with interior and exterior spraying orders and the distribution of individually illustrated marketing media, especially for the younger target groups of banks. From 1997 onwards, Jörn Stiller, a qualified bank official, and Markus Christl, a qualified engineering draughtsman, gave their full-time attention to the interests of the company.

Since 1999, the internationally reputed graffiti magazine STYLEFILE has been published regularly every four months. This resulted in a greater diversity of assignments and in 2000 it was decided to change the company's legal form and name into "Publikat Verlags- und Handels KG". Shortly before this happened the company had begun to publish books on the subject of graffiti independently and in cooperation with other authors from the scene. The books "Power of Style", "Hamburg City Graffiti", "Stylefile.Blackbook.Sessions" and last but not least, "The Art of Rebellion", which attracted a lot of attention in Europe and America, are all success stories and a continuous source of motivation for the launching of new projects.

With the publication of the first edition of the STYLEFILE magazine, accessories, books and fashion articles for the scene were also marketed. Later, this lead to the STYLEFILE online shop with its wide range of articles and more than 30,000 customers.

Meanwhile Publikat GmbH & Co. KG has 13 full-time employees, regularly including trainees. If necessary, the team can be supplemented by freelancers.
